À une passante

A misty Thames evening,
In a dreary park,
Under a masked moon,
She rose out of a cloud
Floating, a ghost
Flirting with the wind.
She is not threatened
By the devils of the night;
A violet in her hair,
She holds the secret of life
In her left hand,
Another woman’s heart

They wander,
Whispering poems only Night dared to listen.

How beautiful are the empty streets
With shadows of lonely cats
When two women highlight the sky
With colours of a rainbow
